Recently, Rivian has expanded its tent offerings by collaborating with iKamper to introduce a new hard-shell rooftop tent tailored specifically for Rivian electric vehicles.
The new rooftop tent, known as the Rivian x iKamper Skycamp Mini, is a specialized version of the popular Skycamp Mini, which is compatible with various vehicles. This partnership has yielded a unique model that includes locking mounting brackets designed to work seamlessly with Rivian’s Adventure Key Set, along with sleek black hardware that enhances the overall aesthetic.
One of the standout features of the Skycamp Mini is its aerodynamic hard shell, which not only improves the vehicle’s fuel efficiency but also provides robust protection against the elements. Inside, users will find iKamper’s premium mattress, which combines inflatable and foam materials for optimal comfort. The tent is constructed from PFAS-free materials, ensuring that it is free from harmful chemicals that could pose health risks over time. Additionally, the tent features Rivian-style yellow accent stitching, allowing it to harmoniously blend with the R1S and R1T vehicles.
Designed to accommodate two people, the Skycamp Mini is suitable for year-round use, offering protection from rain, wind, and UV rays. For those planning to camp in colder conditions, an optional winter insulation kit is available. Weighing in at 137 pounds (61.8 kilograms), the tent can be set up in just one minute, making it an ideal choice for spontaneous adventures. Notably, it can be mounted on the roof of either the R1S or R1T, or placed over the bed of the R1S.
The Rivian x iKamper Skycamp Mini is available for purchase at a retail price of $4,595 on iKamper’s official website. As an added incentive, customers who order the rooftop tent by April 15 will receive a complimentary Disco Series Stove System, valued at $515. It’s important to note that Rivian’s Cargo Crossbars are necessary for mounting the tent, which will add an additional cost of approximately $800. The Adventure Key Set, which is essential for the tent’s locking mechanism, is sold separately for $65. For comparison, Rivian has also partnered with Yakima to create a three-person tent for the R1S, priced at $2,800, although this model lacks the hard-shell design.
