The July 2026 edition of the Walmart EV charging update from State Of Charge shows continued rapid expansion. With over 5,200 stores and 90 percent of Americans within 10 miles of a location, this network is becoming one of the most significant public charging infrastructures in the US.
Network Growth Continues
Walmart EV charging network continues to expand at a steady pace. The July 2026 update from Landon West of Arkansas e-traveler covers the latest station openings. Each Walmart charging station is equipped with a minimum of four CCS and four NACS handles. The hardware standard is the Alpitronic Hypercharger HYC 400 and ABB A400, both 400 kW-class ultra-fast chargers.
Why Walmart Matters for EV Charging
Walmart has unique advantages: the financial resources to self-finance expansion without relying on government subsidies, existing real estate at prime locations across the country, and millions of daily customers. EV charging becomes a natural extension of the shopping trip.
The network is being built at a scale that could rival Tesla Supercharger within a few years. Unlike many charging networks dependent on grants, Walmart can fund its expansion from corporate cash flow, making it more resilient to policy changes.
