Lucid Motors Targets Tesla Owners with Exclusive Discount for the Air EV
Lucid Motors is making waves in the electric vehicle (EV) market by offering a compelling discount for Tesla owners and lessees looking to switch to the Lucid Air. This promotional campaign, which runs until the end of March, allows potential customers to save up to $4,000 on a new inventory 2025 Lucid Air without the need to trade in their current vehicles, as long as they can provide proof of ownership.
Understanding the Discount Structure
The total discount of $4,000 is divided into two parts. Customers can receive $2,000 off the purchase price of a new Air sedan if they opt for a vehicle that is in stock and available on-site. The second $2,000 discount applies if the buyer is trading in a vehicle they already own or lease, although it’s important to note that trading in is not a requirement. Simply providing proof of ownership is sufficient to qualify for this offer.
In addition to Tesla vehicles, this promotion is also available to owners or lessees of gas-powered or hybrid models from a wide range of traditional automakers, broadening the appeal of the offer. However, the campaign specifically targets Tesla owners when it comes to electric vehicle ownership, making it a strategic move in the competitive EV market.
A Competitive Landscape: Lucid vs. Polestar
This initiative mirrors a successful strategy employed by Polestar, which recently offered a $5,000 discount for Tesla drivers interested in leasing the new Polestar 3. The effectiveness of such promotions is evident, as Polestar experienced significant spikes in orders during their campaign.
Lucid’s website currently features several Air EV models eligible for discounts, with prices starting at $69,900 for the base Air Pure and extending beyond $120,000 for the premium Air Grand Touring. Notably, the high-end Sapphire trim is excluded from these discounts. The Air Pure boasts an impressive range of 420 miles on a full charge, powered by a single electric motor delivering 430 horsepower. For those seeking enhanced performance, the Air Grand Touring offers a dual-motor all-wheel-drive configuration, elevating its horsepower to 819 and maximum range to 512 miles.
Looking Ahead: The Impact of Lucid’s Offer
As the electric vehicle market continues to evolve, it will be interesting to observe how successful Lucid’s conquest offer proves to be. While the Lucid Air is not the most affordable option in the EV segment, the strategic discount may entice Tesla owners to consider making the switch. In comparison, Polestar’s comprehensive incentives, which included an additional $15,000 for lessees, totaled $20,000 in discounts, resulting in some of their highest order days. The effectiveness of such aggressive promotions could set a precedent for future automotive marketing strategies in the electric vehicle landscape.
