Walmart is quietly building one of the most consequential DC fast charging networks in the United States. With over 5,200 stores and 90 percent of Americans living within 10 miles of a location, the retail giant has the infrastructure and capital to reshape the EV charging landscape.
The Network Scoreboard: 36 Sites and Growing Fast
As of April 30, 2026, Walmart now operates 36 public DC fast charging stations, up from 31 at the end of March. This is the third consecutive month with at least five new openings.
Across those 36 locations, there are 312 individual charging stalls. Every station features a minimum of four CCS and four NACS handles.
The network spans 10 states. Texas leads with 17 sites, followed by Arizona at 7, Florida at 3, and Arkansas and Oklahoma with 2 each.
The Pipeline: 357 Sites in Development
The known development pipeline stands at 357 sites. Of these, 124 are listed as coming soon or under construction, while 197 more have been identified through permit filings.
Landon West from the Arkansas e-traveler channel notes that the actual pipeline is likely much larger, as public permit access varies dramatically by jurisdiction.
Technology: Alpitronic and ABB Power the Network
Walmart has standardized on the Alpitronic Hypercharger HYC 400 and ABB A400. Both are 400 kW-class units. The dual-vendor strategy reduces supply chain risk.
