1.5 MW Flash Charging Explained
What 1.5 MW Charging Actually Means
A typical US DC fast charger delivers 50-350 kW. Tesla’s V3 Supercharger peaks at 250 kW. BYD’s system is 6x more powerful than a Supercharger and 43x faster than a standard Level 2 charger.
But the real innovation is the architecture. Each station includes an on-site battery buffer charged during off-peak hours at just 100-560 kW from the grid. This eliminates the 12-24 month grid upgrade delays that have crippled US NEVI deployment.
By the Numbers
3x faster than any US charger
223 miles added in 5 min
4,239 already deployed
Technology Behind 1.5 MW
Silicon Carbide Power
SiC power modules handle extreme current without excessive heat. Supports both 500V and 1,000V architectures, auto-adapting to the vehicle’s battery system.
Battery-Buffered Grid
Second-life Blade Battery buffer charges at 100-560 kW off-peak. Eliminates grid upgrade costs—the single biggest bottleneck for US charging deployment.
Zero-Gravity Cable
Overhead T-shaped rail with zero-gravity head slides to either side of the vehicle. Enables pull-through designs for cars with trailers.
CCS Open Standard
Any CCS-compatible EV can use it. Only BYD/Denza with second-gen Blade Battery gets full 1,500 kW speed.
